and it starts...
and so it begins... my humble repository of recipes, ideas, thoughts and pictures of my little active kitchen. my kitchen generally serves just my hubby and i, though i like to entertain as much as possible, not least because it gives me an excuse to get creative and try new things on a grander scale that just aren't feasible when it's just the two of us, not just in terms of quantity and scale, but also for the sake of our waistlines!!!
i call it the 'active' kitchen for two reasons. firstly because i'm actually pretty active in the kitchen, i cook almost every meal from scratch and so i generally spend a lot of time in the kitchen. and secondly, because i'm very active! i do some formal exercise every day, including hiking, swimming, cycling, Pilates, running and lots of body-weight training. i do this because not only does it make me feel fantastic and contribute to overall fitness, health and wellbeing, but because i like to eat and i've got to keep that waistline down somehow!!! so to complement my active living, it's important to me to eat healthy and wholesome food that nourishes my body as well as not undoing all that hard work!
i had grand ideas of waiting to start until i had cooked up something truly beautiful and taken lots of fancy photos of it, but in truth i knew that i would find reasons to keep putting it off, so i thought i would make a start regardless and the rest would surely eventually fall into place. surely...
